POV hooks for fitness videos
A fitness POV should put the viewer in the moment before or after the session, not in it. The training is the least interesting part; the argument with yourself in the car park is the video.
POV: you just did 4 press-ups on your kitchen floor and you are counting it, correctly.
Why it works. Grants permission in the last word. 'Correctly' is what turns a small act into a defended position.
POV: it is week 3, nothing has changed yet, and this is the exact day people quit.
Why it works. Names the day the viewer is standing on. Very few things stop a scroll faster than being seen.
POV: the scale has not moved in 6 weeks but your jeans have opinions.
Why it works. Two measurements disagreeing, told as a joke. Humour is what gets a fitness POV shared rather than saved.
POV: you went to the gym at 6am and there were 2 people there and it was lovely.
Why it works. A quiet, positive scene in a feed of intensity. Contrast with the category is itself a hook.
POV: you lifted the same 12 kilos for 8 weeks and today it moved like nothing.
Why it works. Pays off the plateau everybody knows, with the exact weight and duration that make it believable.
POV: you are 41 minutes into a 5k that used to take 32 and you are fine about it.
Why it works. A worse number and a calm reaction. The viewer wants to know how that peace was reached.
POV: you skipped 11 days, came back, and your body remembered more than you expected.
Why it works. Directly answers the fear that stops people returning, and does it in the voice of somebody who just did.
POV: you finally asked someone to check your form and he moved your feet 2 inches.
Why it works. The tiny correction is the payoff. Two inches is small enough to be true and large enough to matter.
POV: you are in the car park at 6am having a full conversation with yourself about going in.
Why it works. The most universal moment in fitness and the least filmed one, which is exactly why it stops the scroll.
POV: 2 sessions a week for 1 year and someone just asked what you have been doing.
Why it works. The payoff arrives as somebody else's question, which is more convincing than any claim you could make yourself.
