Before-and-after hooks for fitness videos

The before-and-after is the oldest shape in fitness and the most distrusted. It works again when the after is smaller than expected, or when the thing that changed is effort rather than appearance.

  1. At 29 I trained 6 days a week and looked the same. At 32 I train 2 and do not.

Why it works. Two ages, two frequencies, and the better result attached to the smaller effort. It argues against itself and wins.

  2. Before: 60 minute sessions, 3 times, dreaded. After: 20 minutes, 4 times, done.

Why it works. Six data points in two fragments. The words 'dreaded' and 'done' carry the whole emotional arc.

  3. Week 1 I did 4 press-ups. Week 30 I did 22 and did not notice it happening.

Why it works. The final clause is the real claim: progress that is invisible while it happens is the thing people quit before seeing.

  4. My 5k was 41 minutes in March. It is 34 now and I changed 1 thing: I slowed down.

Why it works. The mechanism is a paradox, stated in three words, which is the strongest possible reason to keep watching.

  5. Old me warmed up for 0 minutes. New me warms up for 2 and has not been injured in 3 years.

Why it works. A zero against a two, with a three-year outcome. The smallest possible change carrying the largest claim.

  6. In January the gym was 25 minutes away. In June it was my hallway and I went 4 times as often.

Why it works. Changes the environment rather than the person, which is the kind of before-and-after nobody posts.

  7. Before, I needed 5 hours a week. Now I need 90 minutes and I am stronger.

Why it works. Hours against minutes, with the outcome moving the right way. The unit change does the persuading.

  8. At 6 days a week I quit in 11 weeks. At 2 days a week I am 3 years in.

Why it works. Two attempts, two durations. The structure makes the lesson unmissable without stating it.

  9. Same body, 2 photos, 8 months apart. The only difference is 7,000 steps and sleep.

Why it works. Names the two variables plainly, which is the honesty that makes a transformation post credible again.

  10. My best year had 3 sessions a week. My worst had 6 and a January that ended in February.

Why it works. The last clause is a joke and a diagnosis at once, and it is the exact story the viewer is living.
