Curiosity-gap hooks for fitness videos

The question has to be one the viewer cannot answer. 'Do you want to get fitter' is not a gap; 'why does week 3 end more plans than weeks 1 and 2 combined' is.

  1. What do the 2 people you know who never quit training have in common?

Why it works. Sends the viewer looking through their own contacts, which is engagement before the video has even started.

  2. Why does week 3 end more fitness plans than weeks 1 and 2 combined?

Why it works. A specific, checkable claim inside the question. The viewer wants to know whether they are about to hit it.

  3. Which 3 exercises would you keep if you could only ever do 3 again?

Why it works. A constraint game the audience enjoys playing, and they will stay to compare their list with yours.

  4. What happens to your body in the 11 days you do not train, honestly?

Why it works. 'Honestly' signals the answer will contradict the category, which is the reason to stay for it.

  5. Why did my 41 minute 5k feel better than the 32 minute one, 2 years earlier?

Why it works. Two times and two years. The worse number feeling better is a contradiction that has to be resolved.

  6. What is the 1 thing every person over 40 who still lifts does differently?

Why it works. Narrow audience, single answer promised. Both make the gap tight enough to hold attention.

  7. Why does the scale move 0 for 6 weeks and then 3 kilos in 1 week?

Why it works. Describes a pattern the viewer has experienced and never had explained, which is the ideal gap.

  8. Which part of your warm-up is the 2 minutes that stops the injury?

Why it works. Assumes the warm-up exists and asks which part matters, which is a more specific and more useful question.

  9. What would 2 sessions a week for 1 year actually do to you?

Why it works. The word 'actually' promises a real answer rather than encouragement, and the numbers make it modest enough to believe.

  10. Why do people who train 6 days a week quit before the ones who train 2?

Why it works. Inverts the assumption of the entire category in nine words, and the numbers make it testable.
