POV hooks for business videos

A POV puts the viewer in the scene as the main character. It is the most native format on short video and the easiest to get wrong: if the situation is not one they have actually been in, it reads as a stock photo.

  1. POV: you just realised the client who pays the least sends 8 times as many messages.

Why it works. Every service business has this client. The ratio is what turns a shared feeling into a specific, shareable one.

  2. POV: your best month happened while you were on holiday and you are not sure how to feel.

Why it works. An emotion the audience has had and never seen named. Ambivalence is more relatable than triumph.

  3. POV: it is 6pm, the invoice is unpaid, and you are writing the politest email of your life.

Why it works. Three beats, ending on a joke everybody recognises. The politeness is the punchline.

  4. POV: you opened the business account and there is 40 pounds more in it than you expected.

Why it works. A small, good surprise. Most business POVs are about disaster, so the pleasant one stands out in the feed.

  5. POV: somebody just asked what you do and you took 90 seconds to answer a 9 second question.

Why it works. Two time spans in one sentence diagnose the problem and promise the fix at the same time.

  6. POV: you are 3 years in and someone calls you an overnight success at a family dinner.

Why it works. The setting is what makes it land. Family dinner is specific enough to be a memory rather than a concept.

  7. POV: your 1 review is a 5 star from your mum and you are refreshing the page anyway.

Why it works. Self-deprecating and precise. The refreshing is the detail that makes it true rather than merely funny.

  8. POV: you just said no to a 2,000 job and your hands are still shaking a bit.

Why it works. Names the physical reaction, not the decision. The body detail is what makes a POV feel lived.

  9. POV: the shop has been open 40 minutes and nobody has walked in, so you rearrange the shelf again.

Why it works. The word 'again' carries the whole morning. Repetition is how you show waiting without describing it.

  10. POV: you finally wrote the price on the website and 2 people bought before you closed the laptop.

Why it works. Rewards the exact action the viewer has been avoiding, which makes the video a nudge rather than a lecture.
