Stat drop hooks for business videos
A stat drop puts the number first and the context second. It works because a specific figure is a promise that the rest of the video is made of facts, not opinions. Use numbers from your own business, never invented ones.
1,400 dollars a month in subscriptions I was not using. Same card, same business, three years.
Why it works. The figure is large enough to sting and small enough to be believable, and the repetition at the end makes it feel confessed.
11 customers. That is how many I had when I quit my job, and it was enough.
Why it works. A number far lower than the viewer expects. Under-claiming is more arresting than a big win.
206 days passed before my business earned a single pound.
Why it works. Counting in days rather than months is what makes this sound like somebody who was actually counting.
37 cold emails, 2 replies, 1 client who is still with me 4 years later.
Why it works. Three numbers descending to one. The shape of the sentence is the shape of the story.
My best month was 12,000. My worst was 300. They were 6 weeks apart.
Why it works. The gap does the work, and the 6 weeks is the detail that makes it frightening rather than motivational.
9 out of my first 10 products failed. The tenth one pays my rent.
Why it works. A failure rate stated plainly buys the credibility that the second sentence spends.
It cost 47 dollars to find out that nobody wanted the thing I spent a year building.
Why it works. The tiny cost against the wasted year is the joke and the lesson at once.
I raised my prices by 60 dollars and lost exactly zero customers.
Why it works. 'Exactly zero' is a measured claim rather than a boast, which is why the viewer believes the 60.
3 people unsubscribed today. 2 of them replied to say why, which is worth more than the 3.
Why it works. Small numbers, honestly reported. A business account that shows a loss is one the audience trusts on the wins.
14 months of posting before a single video brought me a paying customer. Month 15 brought nine.
Why it works. The long number sets up the short one. Anybody who is currently in month 6 will watch to the end.
Free. Three topics a day, no card.
